A UK car protection manufacturer today (Thursday 26 June 2014) announced a new partnership with Sahara Force India Team, ahead of the 2014 Formula One™ Santander British Grand Prix at Silverstone, next weekend.
Gtechniq, a leader in nano-based surface protection coatings, joins the Silverstone-based team, currently fourth in the World Championship, to help maintain the aerodynamic efficiency of the team’s two cars, driven by Nico Hulkenberg and Sergio Perez.
The company’s latest development for the motorsport industry, C0 Aerocoat, is the product that the Force India Team will apply to both cars prior to all of the high performance-orientated Formula One ™ races.
Gtechniq’s C0 Aerocoat prevents discarded rubber from the cars’ tyres sticking on to the wings, an occurrence which would disrupt the carefully studied aero flow and negatively affect the overall aerodynamic efficiency of the car. By coating the wings of each car with Aerocoat and preventing debris from sticking, the team can maintain the surface quality of the car.
Rob Earle, managing director of Northamptonshire-based company Gtechniq, said: “It is great to be working with Sahara Force India to find a solution to a common problem in motor racing – improving and maintaining the aerodynamic performance of the cars. After rigorous lab and real-world testing, we developed a product that really works and will serve the team well.”
Sahara Force India’s Technical Director Andrew Green said: “A Formula One car is designed to an incredible degree of precision and it is crucial to maintain all the aerodynamic surfaces in the correct condition so they behave as originally designed. Rubber build-up is highly disruptive and a product like C0 Aerocoat is vital to prevent loss of performance. We are delighted to begin a technical partnership with Gtechniq and benefit from their expertise. We welcome them to the team and look forward to a successful time together.”
Smart surface science based on advanced nanotechnology is the basis for Gtechniq’s success.
